Evacuation of Orting & Visit from the Madsen's

We've had quite the wild winter here in the Seattle/Tacoma area. As you know, we first dealt with the snow in December. Now we've been dealing with rain, rain, and more rain! It's been melting all the snow in the mountains and making all the rivers flood.

Before work yesterday morning Mike and I saw on the news that Orting was beginning to flood. Elizabeth, Bret and Cameron live in Orting. They also live very close to the Carbon River. I woke them up at 6:00 a.m. and told them to watch the news because they may have to evacuate. By about 12:30 p.m. Elizabeth and Bret were up at our house in Kent. They left Orting and ran into several closed roads on their journey here.

Bret had to work the late shift so Elizabeth and Cameron stayed with us. We had a wonderful time playing with Cameron and visiting with Elizabeth. They stayed the night and went home about 11:30 today. Here is a photo of Cameron in the shirt we bought him for Christmas.

Here he is before putting on his pajamas.
