My Aunt Cindy

We were all saddened and shocked at the recent death of my mothers sister, Cindy Shaw. I can remember my Aunt Cindy from when I was a little girl in South Carlolina. She lived next door to us and I used to go to her often to play with her daughters Debbie and Bonnie. Cindy's family eventually moved to Utah and we followed a couple of years later. For the next 17 years I usually lived with-in a couple of blocks of her.

Aunt Cindy often helped me through difficult times when my mother was very ill. I remember a few times crying at her house as I worried about the health of my mother. She was always a great comfort. She helped our family through some very difficult times and for this I will always be grateful to her. May the Lord bless her for her kind service.

Aunt Cindy and my cousins Debbie, Bonnie, and Amy came down to the hospital when I was in labor with Elizabeth. When it came time for the c-section Aunt Cindy asked if she could watch the baby be born and I was more than happy to have her in the room. Cindy and my mother often took care of me in the weeks after Elizabeth's birth. There were times when I so sick that I could not take care of Elizabeth and my mother and Cindy would take her for me.

I remember after Elizabeth was born calling Aunt Cindy to come over to mothers to watch Elizabeth get a bath. We used to go to Aunt Cindy's house and put Elizabeth on the floor. All of us would gather around and watch her every move. We would clap if she smiled, sat up, crawled, laughed etc.

The day Elizabeth walked we called Aunt Cindy right away and she came running. I can still see her car pulling in my mothers driveway while Elizabeth walked around mothers front yard as snow started to fall. She was a wonderful and loving great aunt to Elizabeth and support to me.

When we moved to Seattle I was not able to see my Aunt Cindy as often. But going back to Utah always brought visits to Aunt Cindy's house. Since my parents sold the house I grew up in Aunt Cindy's house is the closet I have to home from my childhood. There are so many happy memories there that I will always cherish.

I want to express my deep love to my cousins and my Uncle David. I mourn with you in your time of loss. I pray for your well being and that your souls with find comfort.

I have very few photos of Aunt Cindy but I would like to post a couple in her memory.
